2018 Interior Design Trends

2018 Interior Design Trends

The new year is here and with it the perfect time to get prepped to spruce up your home and give it a new lease of life. So what are the coming years key interior design trends? We’ve picked out some of our favourites, you could find one to suit your home…

French Relaxed Rustic/ Country Style

Looking to escape the buzz of the city and work when you get home? Embrace the growing French country interior trend. With earthy colour tones including warm browns and mustards, this style is the perfect way to turn your urban house into a cozy and relaxed home.

Laid back lounges, refined patterns, weathered woods and raw textures bring this style altogether to achieve this classic look. Modernise it by adding in richly coloured accessories such as cushions, curtains, and ornaments.

Mixed Materials, in particular, Kitchens!

Mix and Match materials and finishes are making a stand this year. This isn’t just about using different colours but also having different textures. More and more statement marble countertops are appearing in kitchens alongside two-toned feature furniture (in particular cabinets), a step away from the monochromatic trends we’ve seen in the past.

Want to avoid a hectic look? Choose a base shade and a couple of its variances to decorate such as greys, alongside a bold contrasting colour for features that pop.

Industrial Chic

The ideal interior design trend for 2018 if you’re big on statement pieces, industrial chic is all about having distinguishable features within your home. A minimalistic approach sets the foundation for this style alongside exposed brickwork, distressed furniture, and ‘not-for-its purpose’ accessories.

Fittings in industrial metal shades such as brass and factoryesque decoration will be big for carrying off this look.

Colourful Trimmings

Neutral tones may be centre stage for colour trends this year however bold pigments are making a stand in the home accessories and furnishings area as people throw out the safe greys and beiges of the past.

Our Personal Favourites:

Statement/Oversized Art!

Gone are the days of framed quotes and gallery walls, now we are seeing oversized art is set to become the biggest trend of 2018 and it’s the bigger the better! The great thing about this is neutral and bland walls can be spiced up in a second without a lick of paint. Art has never been so accessible and affordable so it’s easy to get your hand on a statement piece and class up your home with some artistic elegance.

Moody Photography

Along with oversized art, ‘moody’ and emotive framed photography is taking the place of quotes and typography as a classy alternative.

Greenery

Natural colour tones are set to be huge this year so it’s hardly a surprise that indoor plants are making a comeback alongside as the perfect partner. Not sure what plants to introduce to your home? Take a look at our guide.
