‘What can you tell us about your winning entry into our photography competition back in March?’<\/h3>\n

This image was taken in Dungeness in Kent. Dungeness is a popular area for photographers because of its bleak beauty.
\nOne of the residents had woven all the things they had found on the seashore, to form a sort of sculpture, the structure was fascinating.
\nIt conveyed an idea of our throw away society but also the beauty that can be found in everything even rubbish collected on a beach.
\nI think it was a starting point for my project called Kit and Caboodle, in which I collected things I found, for example walking around the streets and arranged them in intricate patterns(with photoshop)<\/p>\n

‘How did you get into photography?’<\/h3>\n

It was my children and husband who encouraged me actually. They had a faith in me and saw something in the photographs I took. They gave me the support to do a degree in photography which I completed three years ago, achieving a First (amazingly as I had a baby half way through)<\/p>\n

‘What do you enjoy about photography?’<\/h3>\n

That’s easy, everything! I love experimenting and I have a very eclectic practice, there is a thread that runs through all my work though. I always hope to take the ordinary and make it extraordinary. There is nothing more exciting than succeeding in producing an idea or an image that you have visualised in your head.<\/p>\n

‘What are your plans for the future?’<\/h3>\n

To keep going. I am currently helping to organise an Art Market in Maidstone and I am also seeking gallery representation, so fingers crossed.<\/p>\n

‘What do you plan to do with your framing voucher?’<\/h3>\n

I have bought two frames for my new work, which will hopefully be exhibited soon. So thank you very much, the frames are great and they are helping a starving photographer further their career.<\/p>\n
