Four Ways to Get Festive With Frames

Four Ways to Get Festive With Frames

Christmas is fast approaching; whether you are looking for gifts or things to decorate your home we have trawled the web to find some great ideas on how you can use picture frames this festive season.

It’s amazing the types of art and craft ideas you can find out there, and this Christmas we wanted to give you some more unique ways to use our picture frames, a lot of which can be used within your home to bring some more festive framing cheer .

After looking through plenty of ideas from the DIY community we have made a list and basic tutorials to our favourite ideas; christmas photo frames, a bauble Christmas frame, Christmas wreath framing idea and a festive framing layout.

Bauble Frame Wreath by Happy & Harried

Want something a bit different? Anjana from Happy & Harried came up with this great idea for a Christmas themed wall hanging. To make, simply remove the glass and backing from your picture frame, then zigzag some string between either side of your frame; a good idea is to use staples to attach the string to the frame. Next grab some baubles and in this case wooden letters to hang and decorate your frame.

So this idea from FunkyJunkInteriors is great if you just want to add a touch of Christmas to your home or doors without going too overboard. For this example they used trimming from an evergreen, however if you want to create a decoration which you can use again next year we suggest using artificial christmas tree garlands. Using staples or string attach the branches to your frame. In an example by Shanty-2-chic they then went on to add pine cones, ribbon and letters as with the joy frame above to give their frame more of a festive feel.

Picture Frame Christmas Tree by House on the Way

For this project Leslie at House on the Way used picture frames and a plywood backing to create a Christmas tree. For this, a great idea is to change your pictures round to Christmas themed or family photos. Then all you need to do is lay out your frames in a christmas tree shape, and draw around them onto the plywood (ensuring any edges are tight so won’t be seen appearing around the frames). Next simply measure up where you need to add a hook to hang your frames on the wood securely. Finally hang up your wood backing on the wall (remember to consider how much your tree will weigh when picking your fittings- go heavy duty!) and then one by one begin adding your picture frames.

We think this is a great simple idea for transforming your picture frames for the festive season. In this example they used pictures from a book however we think it would be a great idea to recycle and use the pictures off of past Christmas cards.

Want to go more Christmassy? Grab yourself some tinsel and hang it around the frame.

Here at Picture Frames Express we offer a wide range of both single and multi picture frame,  bespoke made for you and available in custom sizes. To take a look at the frames we have available for gifting or DIY decorating this Christmas take a look through our shop.
