Canvas floating frames - measuring
To order a Canvas Floating frame you enter the canvas width and
height size, to account for folded corners and movement, Canvas
Floating frames are manufactured to the Canvas size plus 10-16mm.
To demonstrate the process we have created the following
example using a photo portrait that has been digitally printed onto
a polyester canvas and stretched over a solid wooden frame.
1 – Take multiple width and height measurements and use the largest
of these as the canvas width and height size.
2 – Ensure the rebate depth of the frame is suitable for the depth
of the canvas, it is normal for this to be slightly more or less than
the canvas depth.
3 – To account for folded corners and movement, Canvas Floating
frames are manufactured to the canvas size plus 10-16mm.
4 – The canvas size will then fit into the Canvas Floating frame with
a gap of 5-8mm from the canvas size top, bottom, left & right to the
inside edge of the frame.
